What is Heat Stroke?
Brad Floyd - Tuesday, May 24, 2011
Your body normally cools itself by
sweating, but during hot weather, especially with high humidity, sweating
just isn't enough. Your body temperature can rise to dangerous levels. Older adults, young children and
those who are sick or overweight are most at risk. Drinking fluids,
replenishing salt and minerals and limiting time in the heat can help.
There are many products to help you stay cool and
beat the heat this summer. The best environments provide a cool, dry
flow of air to help evaporate moisture. This process of evaporation
pulls heat from your body.
Go Cool is a
portable air conditioner
like no other, as it delivers cold, dry air to any location for a
prolonged period of time. The best part is that Go Cool is the only
portable air conditioner to do this with
ice and water.
According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, heat-related illnesses include:
- Heatstroke - a life-threatening illness in which body temperature
may rise above 106° F in minutes; symptoms include dry skin, rapid,
strong pulse and dizziness
- Heat exhaustion - an illness that can precede heatstroke; symptoms
include heavy sweating, rapid breathing and a fast, weak pulse
- Heat cramps - muscle pains or spasms that happen during heavy exercise
- Heat rash - skin irritation from excessive sweating
Thanks for reading and don't forget to stay cool this summer.
Cool Cape and Go Cool Relieve Heat Stress Symptoms
Brad Floyd - Tuesday, August 10, 2010
Baton Rouge, LA – Comfort Innovations, LLC, the makers of GO COOL and the Cool Cape, announced today that its two new products provide crucial relief for heat stress victims.
The hooded Cool Cape is designed to enclose an individual within a cool environment to rapidly reduce a heat stress victim’s core temperature. GO COOL is a light-weight, portable air conditioner that can be taken anywhere air conditioning is needed. The Cool Cape attaches to GO COOL’s vent, concentrating cold air into the cape to rapidly cool a heat stress victim. The Cool Cape was originally designed to cool overheated athletes, but is now being used with GO COOL to address heat stress and its related disorders in other hot conditions such as hot work environments. To see GO COOL and the Cool Cape in action, please view the informative video on the company’s website at www.getgocool.com.
GO COOL is an innovative air conditioner recently introduced into the market that uses a new, patented process to produce cold, dehumidified air conditioning. It uses ice and a small amount of water to cool, and since it doesn’t use chemical coolants, doesn’t need exhausting. It has a variable temperature range between 64° and 82° Fahrenheit. Designed to cool a small, enclosed space, GO COOL draws only 1.6 amps, and can run off of AC, DC or a 12v rechargeable battery. A single load of ice provides 6.5 to 8 hours of air conditioning.
In combination with its innovative Cool Cape accessory, GO COOL can provide an individual with a personal cooling environment to reverse the debilitating effects of heat stress. Studies show that rapidly cooling a heat stress victim is the most critical step in reversing heat stress. The hooded Cool Cape concentrates cold air from the victim’s head down the torso where cooling is most effective.
